British Nuclear Fuels Plc said Monday it has picked Toshiba Corp. as the preferred bidder for its sale of Westinghouse Electric Co.

Asian shares ended lower Monday as oil prices continued to rise, while traders remained edgy following steep declines in New York on Friday.

Japan’s Toshiba Corp. has won the bidding war for Westinghouse and will buy the Y.S. power plant operator for almost $5 billion, according to a media report Monday.

TOKYO and KFAR SABA, Israel----Dec. 12, 2005--M-Systems and Toshiba Corporation today announced that the companies will offer DiskOnChip H3, a new generation of on-board, high density embedded flash drives based on DiskOnChip architecture, for mobile handsets and consumer electronics devices.

That's the cautionary tale from Frau Boekhoff, who saw a Toshiba M45 S169 laptop—with a serial parallel port—advertised on the Circuit City website for under $1k. After much to-do, and prying open a door on the back of the machine with a screwdriver, she learned that the laptop did not have a serial port—only a hole for a serial port. After basically being forced to buy a higher-priced laptop, she is sent to Radio Shack for a $40 USB conversion cable.
