FileMaker Unveils New FileMaker Go for iPhone and iPad

FileMaker, Inc. today announced FileMaker Go for iPhone and FileMaker Go for iPad, two highly anticipated new apps — now available from the App Store — that let users easily view, edit, and search for information in FileMaker Pro databases on their iPhone or iPad.

App Store “a runaway hit” for Apple

“Since it opened 10 months ago,” reports Dow Jones’ Ben Charny (smartmoney.com), ”the App Store has been a runaway hit selling a host of software that turn the smartphone into everything from a carpenter’s level to a virtual change purse.” Showing “no sign of letting up,” the success of the App Store has made Apple “‘the platform of choice‘ in the consumer smartphone area,” according to Gartner analyst Mike McGuire.

Scoring Slumdog Millionaire with Logic

“I work almost exclusively with Logic,” asserts A. R. Rahman, the Oscar-winning composer of the music for Slumdog Millionaire. In fact, he’s “been working with Logic for almost 12 years. I use it as my writing tool because I can have it on a desktop or on a laptop. I can carry it all over.” Rahman has “looked at other programs but never cared to try them because the timing in Logic is the best.”

Now you can buy or rent films in HD on the iTunes Store

Starting today, you can purchase box office blockbusters for download from iTunes in HD for $19.99, and films will be available as iTunes Movie Rentals in HD for $4.99 within 30 days after release. Pre-order Twilight or Quantum of Solace today, and you’ll be able to download them when they become available on March 21 and March 24, respectively. Transporter 3, Punisher: War Zone, and other select titles are available in HD today.

Celebrating the “Wisdom of Our Elders”

Through the Living Legacy program, Arizona students interview community members who have lived in the state for many decades and have experienced Arizona’s history first hand. The short documentary films, a small sampling of the educational programming available from Arizona’s eLearning Platform, allow students to tell Arizona’s history via “a quilt of personal Arizona stories.”

For Leverage, which premieres Sunday on TNT, Executive Producer Dean Devlin devised “an end-to-end Final Cut workflow” that allowed him to deliver a highly-produced show on a cable TV budget. “We color corrected in Color, we edited in Final Cut Pro, we mixed in Soundtrack Pro. We delivered the show without ever going to an outside post house.” Final Cut Studio, Devlin says, “really exceeded all of our expectations.”
