NEW YORK (Reuters) - Suited executives, grungy teens and even some savvy grannies are already using Wi-Fi to wirelessly link their laptops to the Internet. It may not be long before the short-range high-speed technology is just as popular for those looking to connect music players, phones, cameras, game consoles and more.

SEOUL (Reuters) - A 33-year-old South Korean quarry worker was found dead with a burning mobile phone stuck to his chest, police and the doctor who examined the man said on Thursday.

At Iona College in New Rochelle, New York, iMac offers the best of both worlds, allowing students and faculty to “run their Mac-based programs of choice, while still enabling access to the Windows applications they need.” Says Dimitris Hilaris, Iona’s associate vice provost for IT, “Now that we have the versatility of being able to put both operating systems on one computer and the pricing is competitive, it doesn’t make sense not to go with Apple.”

“Retirees in Long Beach and Weaverville, Calif., halibut fishermen in Alaska, data entry clerks in London, casting agents in New York—all separated from the classroom by age, distance or circumstance—are learning from some of the world’s top scholars,” Michelle Quinn (Los Angeles Times) tells her readers. They’re learning by downloading podcasts from iTune U, where “28 colleges and universities, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford and Yale, now post select courses without charge at iTunes.”
