USA Today retreats from BellSouth, Verizon report

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - USA Today said on Friday it could not confirm part of a May 11 report that said BellSouth Corp. VZ.N were among telecommunications companies that had supplied phone call records to a secret U.S. government anti-terrorism program.

Stolen laptop with veterans’ data recovered

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A stolen laptop computer containing sensitive information on more than 26 million U.S. military veterans and service members has been recovered and a preliminary review indicated no data was taken, the FBI and Veterans Affairs Department said on Thursday.
